The Nigerian military on Friday said it arrested a suspected bomber who disguised as a woman.
A statement by the Defence Headquarters said the man who dressed like
woman was suspected to be connected with the explosion targeted at the
convoy of former military Head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, in
Kaduna.
The attack occurred near the busy Kawo Market in Kaduna, killing over
75 people, the police said. A bomb-laden car rammed into the
ex-leader’s convoy after trailing it for a distance, and unsuccessfully
trying to overtake the escort vehicle to reach Gen. Buhari’s armoured
SUV.
The military said the suspect was arrested by a security team that
arrived at the explosion site not long after the blast. He was caught
while trying to mix with the crowd of onlookers.
Some youths in the area tried to lynch the suspect while being
arrested but were restrained by troops who whisked him away in an
Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
The statement said the suspect is being interrogated by security
agencies to figure out his links with the attempt on Gen. Buhari’s life.
