The Sun Vice Chairman dies at 58

he Vice Chairman of  The Sun Publishing Limited, publishers of The Sun titles, Pastor Dimgba Igwe was this morning knocked down by a fast moving vehicle while jogging  around his residence in the Okota area of Lagos.
A statement from The Sun Publishing Limited said Mr Igwe passed on around 10 am at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) of injuries suffered after a hit-and-run driver knocked him down.
The statement signed by the Managing Director of  The Sun Publishing Limited Mr. Femi Adesina said first aid was administered to Mr. Igwe at St Raphael Hospital Ago Palace Way, before moved to LASUTH where died.

The statement quoted the Chairman of the Sun Publishing Limited Dr Orji Uzor Kalu  as saying that the development was “tragic shocking and dark day in the annals of journalism in Nigeria.  Dimgba Igwe was too much of gentleman, fine brain and mind to die tragically like this.”
The statement added that, “Igwe and Mike Awoyinfa added verve to Nigerian journalism when they set up Weekend Concord in 1989, the duo pioneered   The Sun Newspaper in 2003, with Awoyinfa as Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief and Igwe as Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Igwe was appointed Vice Chairman of the company last year.
