With just five days to the Morocco 2015 Nations Cup qualifier between
Nigeria and Congo, the Eagles camp in Calabar has started bubbling with
Chelsea forward, John Mikel Obi, who arrived camp yesterday taking no
chance over the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
Mikel who plies his soccer trade in England stormed camp with loads of
hand gloves which he was ready to share with his team mates and
technical officials and the player jokingly made this clear moments
after arriving camp.
Team’s Media Officer, Ben Alaiya disclosed that Mikel, whose arrival
ignited the camp told Keshi that he was ready to give him one of the
hand gloves, an offer which saw the players reeling in laughter.
Other players that breezed into camp yesterday include Ogenyi Onazi,
Kenneth Omeruo, Juwon Oshaniwa, Sone Aluko , Nnamdi Oduamadi, Emma
Emenike and stand-in, captain, Austin Ejide. The early arrival of the
players made Keshi happy, even as he stated that he expects the best
from the players on saturday.
Meanwhile, Keshi decided to replace Vincent Enyeama, who is absent for
personal reasons with Elkanemi of Maiduguri first choice keeper, David
Obiazor.
“We have been monitoring the Nigerian league and we see that the keeper
of Elkanemi is a talent, that is why we want to give him a trial. We
will see how it turns out when he arrives camp”, Keshi said after lunch
yesterday.
