At least 50 shops containing
planks and other building materials were on Monday morning destroyed by
fire in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.
The Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Rasaq Fadipe, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
He said that two vehicles and cutting machines were also burnt but gave the assurance that no life was lost.
Fadipe said that the incident happened at Sawmill, U-Turn Bus Stop, Abule-Egba.
He said that firemen put out the fire after fighting with it for hours.
Fadipe told NAN that the cause of the fire had yet to be known.
