Today marks 17 years since Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris.
Princess Diana initially survived the Aug. 31, 1997, limousine crash,
but later died from her injuries. Egyptian film producer Dodi Al-Fayed
and the driver were also killed. A bodyguard was seriously injured.
French authorities investigating the crash found the driver had a high
level of alcohol in his system when the crash happened. The paparazzi
trailing Princess Diana was also scrutinized.
Thousands turned up for her funeral, held at Westminister Abbey.
Born Lady Diana Spencer, she became the Princess of Wales when she
married Prince Charles in 1981. They had two children - Princes William
and Harry - before they divorced in 1996.
