the announcement of the Assistant Inspector-General, AIG Suleiman Abba,
as the acting Inspector-General of Police. He will succeed the
outgoing IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, who retired yesterday from office after
35 years of service. He retired along side all his course mates
including 5 CPs.
Meanwhile there are fears amongst the senior officers as most of his
contenders might be overtaken by the expected tsunami. It is expected
that all DIGs and some AIGs might be forced to retire.

Inspector-General of Police in- charge of the Intelligence Bureau of the
Nigeria Police Force, Dan Azumi Doma, Assistant Inspector General of
Police,
Force Secretary Force headquarters, Abuja might be affected as
said to be a strong contender for the post IGP. This could be necessary
to avert any form of disloyalty except the current IGP thinks other
wise.
According to our source at the Police Service Commission, it is
expected that Abba will write requesting those who will be retired and
retained. “ Naturally all the DIGs will be retired and any other person
would be the sole decision of the IGP,” the source stated.
The source also stated that Force Public Relation Officer, Frank Mbah
is likely going to retain his position as the police spokesperson.
Abubakar who has just returned from United States of America, where
he had gone to visit his wife who recently delivered a baby boy, was in
the office to officially inform his colleagues of his exit and the
anointed one.
Sources had it that he proceeded to the villa, yesterday where
president Jonathan confirmed that his tenure would not be extended and
asked him to prepare to hand over to Abba.
Dressed in his full IGP regalia , he walked into his office and was
later joined by Abba and the DIGs. He was officially informed him that
he was instructed to hand over to him and would take him to president
Jonathan.
As soon as Abba left the former IGP was seen packing his things in
preparation for his final exit while he awaits the official pull out
ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Zone 7 office of Abba, has since turned into a Mecca
of some sort as friends and well wisher flooded the office to
congratulate the new IGP.
